Make sure you’re tracking and spending time understanding the right metrics.

I see a lot of startup pitchdecks that make a big deal about their social media metrics.

We have 5,000 Facebook likes!
We have 10,000 Instagram followers!

You know, we have a term for these types of metrics.

We call them VANITY metrics.

They make you look good, but they’re usually quite meaningless.

You know what metrics I want to hear?

How many customers LOVED your product.
How many recommended it to their friends.
How many would be extremely inconvenienced or extremely disappointed if they couldn’t use your product anymore.

Make sure you’re tracking and spending time understanding the right metrics.

And don't be vain ;-)
